Technical innovations modern imaging in pain medicine cloud based with PACSonWEB
In interventional pain medicine reliable access to imaging procedures such as ultrasound or BV X ray devices is essential. From the very beginning we decided not to store these imaging data locally in a traditional PACS system but to manage them through the cloud solution PACSonWEB by SchenkX.
Why PACSonWEB?
PACSonWEB stands out with the following features:
- 100% cloud-based: Access is via an internet browser, without the need to install plugins.
- Swiss data center: Data is secured in a Swiss data center, ensuring data protection and long-term archiving.
- Vendor- and modality-independent: PACSonWEB supports all DICOM image data (X-ray, MRI, CT, ultrasound, etc.) and allows integration of devices from various manufacturers.
- Flexible, scalable, and accessible from anywhere.
- PACSonWEB includes an integrated CE-certified viewer.
Implementation in our practice
In our environment, we have implemented the following setup:
- The ultrasound and fluoroscopy/X-ray devices are connected to our network via the practice LAN.
- An interface automatically transfers the generated DICOM data to PACSonWEB, making the imaging dataset available in the cloud immediately after the examination.
- Radiological reports or documented interventions can be accessed directly via the PACSonWEB viewer.
- Fully automated archiving: Image data is not stored locally on a server but is securely archived in the cloud for the long term. This reduces costs, eliminates maintenance efforts, and relieves our IT infrastructure.
Benefits for Our Practice and Patients
- Immediate availability: Imaging data and reports are accessible right after the examination – without delays.
- Location-independent access: Physicians can view images and findings securely from any location, enabling faster decision-making.
- Simplified collaboration: Seamless sharing of imaging data with referring physicians or specialists improves interdisciplinary care.
- Reduced administrative workload: Automated processes and cloud archiving minimize manual tasks and free up IT resources.
- Improved patient experience: Shorter wait times and faster diagnostics contribute to more efficient and patient-friendly care.
Conclusion
The introduction of PACSonWEB was a key step towards a modern, digital, and connected imaging solution. By connecting our ultrasound and fluoroscopy/X-ray devices to the cloud platform via WLAN, we have created a seamless workflow – from image acquisition to reporting and archiving. For our practice, this means greater flexibility, security, and efficiency – and for our patients, even better care.
